Family services

Family Services provides a range of free, voluntary, family support services to families who are experiencing difficulties on a short to medium term basis. In some cases the program may assist families to prevent the involvement of Child Protection.

The target group for the program is families with children and young people aged 0-18 years. Services are provided in a partnership between families and workers. A central intake and follow-up service provides access to a range of flexible options for families. Where possible the service aims to strengthen family relationships and improve family functioning through the development of interpersonal skills, communication, parenting, relationship difficulties and links to other services and local support networks.

Referrals come from the community, the Department of Human Services (Protective Services) and through self-referrals. Family Services provides services to the City of Greater Geelong, the Borough of Queenscliff and Surf Coast Shire, Colac and the surrounding district.

In addition to the Geelong service, Glastonbury also has another Office which services Colac and the surrounding district.
