Counselling and Community Services


Counselling


Provision of generalist counselling around relationships, grief and loss, life skills, depression, anxiety and emotional issues. Services are provided by counsellors with qualifications in Psychology, Family Therapy, Youth Work and Art Therapy and Mediation. Counselling methods and interventions offered are Art and Expressive Therapies, Cognitive-Behavioural, Social Learning and Narrative.




Counselling and Community Services offer a range of interventions to the community, primarily as counselling, group work, speciality groups and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse case work

 

 


SKATE (Supporting Kids and Their Environment)

SKATE provides speciality group work services for children and extended family members impacted by substance misuse. Additional services are provided in secondary consultation to professionals working with substance abuse and family issues and a brokerage service for children to participate in community leisure and social activities. A service is also provided at Geelong Hospital to pregnant mums and their children attending the Chemical Dependency Unit. The program is a partnership with Barwon Health and Bethany Community Support and is funded by the Federal Government under the National Illicity Drug Strategy.

SCARF (Strengthening Children and Relationships in the Community)

Provides speciality groups for children and adolescents of parents with a mental illness. Also services community groups to develop group work and capacity for working with families impacted by mental illness. Secondary consultation to families and professionals around familial mental health issues. The Program is a Glastonbury and Barwon Health partnership and is partically funded by the Department of Human Services.

Culturally Diverse Casework

Provides outreach case work, counselling and advocacy to a variety of CALD communitieswith caseworker bilingual in several European countries. Also acts as secondary consultant across Glastonbury working with CALD communities.

 


Group Work

Glastonbury offers its own community education group work curriculum on a variety of topics, including parenting and life skills education. Group work is coordinated as an intervention across the organisation, raising public awareness of group work opportunities in Early Years, Community Projects, Placement Services and Colac. Courses on offer include Magic 123, Playful Parenting, Rotaring Parenting and Art Expression with Depression.
