Mr Terry Powell

Board member since 2004


Terry is employed as a Practice Manager with Westpac Business Banking. He has previously worked as a Senior Financial Planner with ANZ Private Bank and has established, developed and sold his own financial planning business. He has skills in management, sales and marketing, strategic planning and business coaching. He is focused on developing the profile of Glastonbury to raise awareness within the community of its exceptional service. He is involved in junior football coaching and enjoys cycling and running.

Mr Lenny Jenner

Board member since 2006

Lenny is qualified with a Master of Arts (Social Policy), a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts (Recreation) and is also a State Registered Nurse. His work experience over the last 30 years ranges from youth and volunteering services and university lecturing to Regional Manager of Sport and Recreation in the south west of Victoria. Lenny is currently the Director of Community Services with Golden Plains Shire. He brings a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to the Board including strategic planning, policy development, organisational change and government relations. Lenny also enjoys cooking and outback travel.

Mr Howard Cole
Treasurer
Chair of the Finance and Compliance Committee
Board member since March 2007

Howard's experience with investments, finance and accounting are a welcome addition to the Board. He is qualified with a Bachelors of Commerce and Arts with Honours and has Diplomas from the Securities Institute of Australia in both Applied Finance/ Investment and Financial Planning. Howard has previously worked for a number of banks in institutional, corporate and business banking and currently is a self employed stockbroker and a proper authority holder of AAA Financial Intelligence Group. Howard enjoys family and running.

 

Dr Mark Kennedy
Member of the Finance and Compliance Committee
Board member since 2002

Mark brings to the Board both medical and management qualifications as well as sports medicine. He has extensive skills in management, as a medical director and business partner and holds a number of other pro bono appointments. Mark has extensive experience in private and public medical practice and the provision of medical expertise for sporting organisations. He has particular interests in public health, chronic disease and general practitioner education.

Mr Jason Trethowan
Member of the Strategic Directions Committee
Board member since 2007

Jason is CEO with the General Practitioners Association of Geelong and has been studying or working within the health industry for the past 15 years. His qualifications include Bachelor, Medical Record Administration (Health Information Management), Graduate Certificate, Health Informatics and Masters, Business Administration (MBA). Jason is Chairman for Headspace Barwon consortium Steering Committee that is overseeing significant system changes for young people between 12-25 to have greater awareness and access to primary care services in Geelong and is a Member of the Barwon Primary Care Forum Executive and the G21 Health & Wellbeing Pillar. Having a young family has led to greater interest in understanding child and family services.

Dr Anne Chirnside

Board member since 2003

Anne has been a general practitioner for over 22 years in the northern suburbs of Geelong. She specialises in mental health particularly for marginalised women and their children, and has also worked extensively with troubled adolescents. Anne has a very broad knowledge of services in the Geelong area, with particular interests in the effects of trauma, attachment issues and difficult personality disorders. Her previous experience includes being on the Board of Clockwork Young People's Health Clinic and also the Geelong GP Association. She also enjoys horse riding and specialises in polocrosse.

Ms Janet Bond
Member of the Marketing
and Communications Committee
Board member since 2008

Janet joined the Board in May 2008. She has been a journalist for 25 years and is currently the Geelong Advertiser's Commercial Products Editor. She is a member of the Geelong Performing Arts Centre Trust, serving on the marketing and business development and programming committees. Janet is focused on raising awareness of the valuable work done by Glastonbury. And as a mother of three she is particularly interested in the Glastonbury programs that support and strengthen families.

Mr Jeff Langham
Member of the Strategic Directions Committee
Board member since 2000

Jeff has post-graduate qualifications in education, specialising in both mathematics and computer science. His skills and experience are not exclusive to secondary teaching, as he has worked in other industries including business analysis, human resource management and change management, and especially major system change. He has a passionate interest in early childhood and adolescent health, education for disadvantaged young people, social justice and political change. He also enjoys cricket, his family, fly fishing, gardening and bush walking.

Ms Deborah Mann

Board member since 2007

Deborah is a Senior Associate with Harwood Andrews Lawyers with qualifications of Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Arts University of Melbourne. LIV Accredited Specialist in Property Law, LIV Accredited Specialist in Commercial Tenancy Law. Deborah brings to the Board legal skills and knowledge in commercial leasing, property transactions and local government law as well as drafting and problem analysis. She is interested in family well being and health issues and has done pro bono work through Hardwood Andrews for other not for profit organisations.

Ms Jenny Acopian

Board member since 2007

Jenny's qualifications are BSc, DipEd, MA. Jenny was a secondary school teacher, 14 years Melbourne, Geelong and Canada. Academic administrator with Deakin University for 20 years, academic secretariat and Faculty Manager in the Faculties of Nursing and Arts (including Social Work) and is currently working part time with University of Melbourne as Master Planning Manager. Jenny's skills include strategic planning, policy development, management practice, HR and financial management. She has been involved with QUOTA and Rotary Club of East Geelong. Her interests include people, community service, sports and family history.

Mr Denis O'Callaghan
Member of the Finance and Compliance Committee
Board member since 2008

Denis joined the Board in February 2008. He brings to the board extensive experience in accounting, business and finance. Denis' qualifications include Bachelor of Business, Diploma of Financial Planning and he is a Registered Tax Agent. Denis is a member of the Geelong Business Club, the Geelong Club, the RACV Club and the North Melbourne Football Club.

Mr Paul Whelan
Board member since 2008

Paul joined the Board in September 2008. His qualifications include Diploma of Business Studies (Insurance), Diploma of Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and he is a Fellow of The Australian Insurance Institute and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge in relation to Not-for-Profit Organisations having recently retired as CEO from GMHBA. His expertise encompasses corporate governance, particularly in the not for profit sector, chief executive and general management, risk management, marketing and sales management and investment management, accounting and finance.
